As a lifelong Harry Potter fan, I found myself daydreaming about what a magical school experience might look like in the digital age.

What if Hogwarts had an app? One that kept track of your classes, your house points, your homework, and your owl post? This concept project was a passion-fueled exploration of that idea, infusing the wizarding world into a modern school experience through design.
The result is a concept that feels like it belongs inside the Wizarding World—an app that’s not just functional, but filled with wonder.

My goal was to design a mobile app experience for a student at Hogwarts that would…
Feel magical and immersive through visual storytelling
Help students manage class schedules, assignments, and house points
Encourage community and engagement through gamification

Before diving into design, I set off on a bit of magical research: first into the Muggle world.

I explored educational and gamified apps like Duolingo, ClassDojo, and Notion to see how modern students stay on top of their learning, track progress, and stay motivated.

Then, I turned to the Wizarding World, sifting through fan-made apps, wikis, and official Harry Potter content to uncover the small visual and thematic details that make the universe so beloved.

From house colors and Remembralls to parchment textures and floating candles, I gathered the ingredients to craft an experience that felt both functional and enchanted.

To better understand the needs of my users, I imagined what it might be like to walk the corridors of Hogwarts as a modern student

Out of that daydream came Eloise Wren, a fourth-year Ravenclaw with a sharp mind and a packed schedule. Designing with her in mind helped bring structure and empathy to the app’s magical experience.

With Eloise as my guide, I began mapping out the experience from her point of view: what she would need to start her day, stay organized, and stay connected to her magical world.

These insights shaped the foundation for the app’s structure and helped me design the core features with both utility and enchantment in mind.

I created user flows and wireframes centered around five key sections:
Today’s Schedule – A home screen that provides a daily overview of classes, events, and tasks, styled like a magical timetable that updates in real time.
Homework – A task tracker with cards for each assignment, complete with due dates, progress indicators, and optional magical reminders (like a howler!).
Events – A calendar of school-wide happenings, from Quidditch matches to potions workshops, with RSVP and notification features.
House Points – A live leaderboard and personal contributions tracker, encouraging positive behavior and friendly competition between houses.
Owl Post – A whimsical messaging center styled like parchment mail delivered by owls, with custom stamps and animated “deliveries.”

This project allowed me to combine imaginative worldbuilding with practical UX design, proving that even the most magical experiences benefit from thoughtful, user-centered solutions.
